Yellow turbans are worn and have been worn by people from different parts of the world. They are pieces of cloth used to cover the head. They have been used in Asia by the Sikh faithful and Islamic countries in the Eastern part of the world and North Africa. In each of these cultures they have different significance. The turban color and design will depend on the community from which one comes from and also their religion.

A turban is used to cover the heads so as to keep long beards. They use them to prevent themselves from been identified. After the September attack everyone who covered their heads with this clothing was mistaken to be a terrorist and there was massive abuse of Muslims and Sikhs who had their heads covered with this piece of cloth and had long beards mainly in America. They were believed to have a connection to the mastermind of the terrorist.

One of the groups that have used this clothing widely is the religious leaders. It is a feature that has been used to distinguish them from the rest of the people. They have also embraced it for the purpose of creating equality among their members. Still it is used to ensure their heads are well groomed and eliminate dirt.

The renowned Sikh religious leaders in a bid to eliminate the class system that promoted inequality among Indians allowed every leader to cover their heads with this clothing which was originally worn by those in the high class only. This was a way of recognizing them. Leader who wears the turban are recognized by citizens.

One can find different colors and styles. Among the leaders the yellow ones are worn in celebratory events like weddings. Some designs and styles are worn during special religious days and events. Black and navy ones are worn by young people.

Turbans with camouflage designs are preserved for the military. But to many leaders only a few colors have significance most of them are a personal choice to ensure they match well with the rest of their clothing. These types turbans are mostly put on for specific reasons.

Nomadic communities in North Africa mainly in desert communities also wear them. The color of the head covering was used to show which tribe one came from. They use the cloth to cover their faces and head to protect them from sand and dust as the deserts are known to have strong winds and sand.

In most cases individual first wear a cap then the cloth is used to cover it. In the Muslim world the yellow turbans and make differs from one location to another. A green head covering shows a good life after death. White signifies holiness, and purity, the cloths that the leader uses also has the same color. In the western countries you will hardly get a Muslim in this head covering only a few do wear them. Iranian leaders have been wearing them for years actually this form of clothing is believed to have originated from the inhabitants of Iran the Persians.
