This is only to be aware that they are there and not to get involved or to judge. As time goes by you will be able to judge the experience as either a good or bad thought. Many teachers will want the students to do a combination of both.

Keep repeating one word over and over; this is referred to as a mantra. The Christians have used the word "Maranatha" saying it in four syllables. Do not hold your breath while doing this and concentrate while speaking the word. It is easier if you stay with the same word everyday as it will help to alleviate any lingering stress.
