Understanding Adventures In Collective Empowerment
Self-determination and the people whom have it are some of the strongest people in the world. Whereas, others often need assistance such as adventures in collective empowerment in order to build the strength necessary to learn new and different skills which have the power to enlighten and empower these individuals. For, one of the most important aspects of being empowered to change oneself and the world is by learning how to claim personal space and taking control of life.
Empowerment can provide a practical approach to intervention when it comes to social work. Whereas, in the field of education, empowerment is seen as a tool which can increase the responsibility of citizens to develop, learn and grow in different areas. In addition, it can be integral in promoting civic engagement among those in the community.
Definitions of empowerment differ among people, one of the best refers to it being intentionally centered and participating in the local community with caring, critical reflection and group participation. Whereas, it also indicates that it is a process which allows individuals and groups to access authority, influence and collective power to employ strength when dealing with difficult people, society or large institutions.
In no way is empowering someone giving the individual power. For, power already exist within the wealth of knowledge each individual. Rather, it is the letting the power out into the world while teaching people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to overcome obstacles and reach goals. After which, most often these individuals become stronger and better able to handle a number of different tasks whether at home, school or work.
Also being defined as being part of the process of obtaining opportunities for marginalized individuals, groups and minorities, it has the power to promote good in a number of different areas. As a result, individuals working towards equality and unity are actively using empowerment to empower others to make a change towards acceptance and tolerance from one of bigotry, hatred and homophobia.
Collective empowerment is different from individual forms that it generally involves two or more people whom are working together for the common good. For example, groups such as LGBTQ+ pride committees who work all year, often on a volunteer basis to plan and promote a pride parade open to all in the LGBTQ+ community, family, friends and allies. After which, there are often new supporters whom wish to help promote equality whether in a city, state, country or around the globe.
While there are some whom suggest that empowering women is equal to discriminating against men, this is not the case. In addition, all genders including transgendered individuals need to be equally empowered. Living a globally oriented life with a perspective in which all individuals are equal when it comes to standards, improvement of conditions and events is often the best way to empower oneself and others.
While it is possible to empower individuals and groups in certain ways, creating a more equal and empowered world continues to remain a worthy goal. Although, until people can learn how to agree to disagree while growing in peace and love, there will always be a need for individual and collective empowerment. While the concept to strengthen the world by strengthening the people is a noble one, not all are willing to be the change others want to see in the world.
