Some Vital Points To Note About Tying A Turban

By Terrie Joyner

Everyone who wears a headband has to wrap it at some point. This is because most of them do not sleep in the head gear. Before retiring to bed, most users of the headband will unwrap it and fold it for safe keeping until the next morning. It is however understandable that there are so many methods of tying a turban that one may use. It all depends on the person wearing it as well as the reason for doing the same.

Religious beliefs have a major influence in the lives of many people. It is therefore not surprising that most of the communities that used the headband associated the use of the same to their religious beliefs. Even today, most sectarian churches in most parts of the world have a special dressing code that includes the use of the headband. It is therefore a good thing to try and understand the role of culture when dealing with turbans.

The designs of tying headbands will vary greatly based on religious as well as cultural reasons which are the most common. Some people also use the same as a fashion thing and others yet due to medical or health reasons. Persons under cancer treatment for example often loose their hair due to the effect of the drugs and medication administered.

The Hindus for example have specific colors used to wrap the headbands. It is also worn because of religious reasons and that is why there are specific designs on how to tie the same. It will take a religious leader to wear certain colors and designs and thus the reason why you need to understand the religion before you can start tying headbands in any way.

Many people sometimes wonder whether the Hindus and Sikhs in particular sleep in their turbans. This is because you are likely to see them in the gear everyday. You may even wonder when it is usually washed. The truth is that they always try to keep so many turbans. That way, they can always wash the dirty one and use the next just like you keep more shirts for a similar reason.

One thing that you need to understand about the Sikh turbans for example is that they have a religious and sacred meaning. As a result, they are not even supposed to drop down on the floor. At the end of each day, they are carefully unwrapped and put in a safe and clean place ready for use again in the morning. It is supposed to protect the hair.

If you decide to tie the headband for a religious person using materials or styles that their religion does not approve of, you are likely to have it rejected. It is therefore your role to try and make sure you can understand the different methods used by the groups that you want to wrap the headband for. Without this, you cannot successfully do it.

To keep the hair clean and neat, the communities living in these places became accustomed to tying a turban in a certain way. It is for this reason that you can easily find them wearing turbans of different colors unlike other groups. This is because there is no religious or cultural attachment to the gear except that it is designed to protect the hair.
