To Wear Irish Drinking T-Shirts Or To Not Wear Irish Drinking T-Shirts?

I am a prideful man of pure Irish descent, and if there's one holiday I feel honor-bound to celebrate each and every year...it's Saint Patrick's Day. I enjoy going down to the my local bar and pulling down some thick draft beer while I and the rest of the boys talk about our families and our history. It's a good end to a good day after we've spent time with the wives and kids and had a great, traditional meal. This is how I've always celebrated Saint Patrick's Day and thought that it would be the way I would always continue to do so. That is, until our bar started to be overrun each year by a yelling mob of unruly youngsters in their Irish Saint Patrick's Day tshirts.
The first year that the kids showed up we just ignored it. There weren't that many of them and we just drank our beers and kept to ourselves. The very next year, the number of crazy people in crazy Irish shirts had tripled. I could see a problem brewing and several of the old fellows I hang out with disliked it way more than I did. If I didn't figure out a solution, our St. Patrick's Day would be ruined.
Last year I decided I would perform a little experiment. I knew what it was like to celebrate the same old way I've always celebrated. What I wanted to find out was what it felt like to really cut loose like these younger folks do. I got myself an awesome Irish t-shirt and I painted a clover on my cheek. I went out to a bar I had never been to before and partied with a younger college crowd for the first time.
The first thing I noticed was that the Irish pride tee shirt that I wore was getting a lot of attention. I went with less of the hilarious Irish clothing and more with one that really highlighted my pride in being of full Irish decent. Those young folks treated me with all the respect and admiration as a returning war hero. I am not even entirely certain that I bought a single shot all night long.
I'd be lying if I said I was going to throw on my awesome Irish t shirts and venture out like a soldier like I did last year to party like a college party animal. I had fun last year, but I missed my old traditions and my old friend. There's nothing wrong with the party atmosphere these young folks are bringing to Saint Patrick's Day. I'm just an old fogey who likes sitting at a bar and sipping a glass of Irish whiskey on ice. Honestly, I don't think there's anything wrong with the way I celebrate either.
