One of the most systematic, difficult and challenging arts to learn and pursue is martial arts. As it is both physically and mentally demanding, the people who pursue and learn it are seen with a lot of respect and recognition. When a person is spotted in a martial arts clothing he is automatically considered fitter than the rest of the crowd. People tend to take notice of it.
Different countries have different cultures and their own form of kickboxing sport. The various forms that are popular today are nothing but a collection of the contribution of the different cultures to the world for martial arts. Some of the examples that are well known are- kick boxing, judo, MMa and karate. Each of these come from different regions of the world.
This sport is not meant to hurt anyone, it was started as a systematic and sophisticated form of combat, then became a sport and now is also a very good exercise for the human body. Many people go through basic training of martial arts so that they can fight the social evils that are present in the society. The increasing crime rates have not left people with another choice anyway.
All in all, the teaching, learning and display of martial arts is very attractive. The costume that is worn by the people who perform this sport, is one of the most attractive parts of it. Everyone who owns an authentic and certified costume takes pride in it. Many even flaunt it among their family and friends. The traditional karate uniform is one with the white robe and white trousers. Most importantly, the belt. The belt that is worn at the waist is the mark of the level that the person has reached in the art. Different colors mark different levels.
Different costumes are used for different types of karate forms. For instance, Judo founder Kano Jigro founded the costume for judo and the other martial arts forms that come from Japan. He called it Keikogi. This name was given to the costume because Keiko means to practice and Gi means dress, it means- practice dress. The upper body potion of this costume is called the Uwagi and the lower portion is called the Shitabaki.
There were developments in the costume as per the different climatic conditions faced by Japan. Four weaves were used to make the costume so that they are able to combat the weather conditions and also to ensure that it does not cause a hindrance to the person. The first one is the single weave, it is the lightest and thinnest of the four, meant for summer. The double weave is another, which is the thickest and the heaviest.
Then comes the gold weave that ranges somewhere in between the two mentioned above. Finally there is a platinum weave that is a material thicker than the single weave but thinner than the gold weave. They are all meant to be used in the different seasons that the country sees.
The costume was made with the traditional plain white fabric, but now people have innovated upon the traditional martial arts clothing and added the spin of fashion to it. It is very important for the students and professionals to maintain the costume well so that the dignity of the costume and the honour of the art is maintained.
