By Tim Jones

In just under three minutes, her life was transformed forever. On January 21st, 2009, Susan Boyle, a 47-year-old chapel volunteer from Scotland, walked onstage to audition for a chance at England's hit Television show Britain's Got Talent. In what has now gone down in history books as "The Susan Boyle Audition", she faced the judges, crowds and tv audience and shared her dream - to become a professional singer. This momment would be eatched in the hitory books from this day forward as the day of the "Susan Boyle Audition".

Some rolled their eyes while others in the audience snickered as Susan walked out on to stage. Although, jeers where turned to cheers when Susan sung out the Les Miserables hit "I Dreamed a Dream" The hit performance has had over 120 million online views, touched peoples hearts and made her a household name. Oprah Winfrey was quoted as saying the Susan Boyle Audition "was one of the most extraordinary moments of the entertainment world in 2009."

Before this instance however, Susan's life was not even close to extraordinary.

When Susan was a little girl, her Dad and Mom were told not to expect much from the youngest of their 9 kids, Susan. While her mother was in labour with Susan, things did not go perfectly and Susan was depleted of vital oxygen and was left with a slight disability.

Susan explains how she battled to fit in during her youth. "I did not make friends very easily. I couldn't trust anybody, and whenever I did try to speak to people, they would poke fun at me," she states. "So the only real escape from just about all that, truly, was music."

It had been an ongoing fantasy of Susan's to turn out to be a professional singer, but in 2007, when tradgedy struck with the passing of her mother, she stated she lost the dream of professional singing. "The loneliness truly set in, I understand that [my mom] meant me to do something with my life, however I did not know until I applied for the tv program." Susan describes.

To the shock of loyal fans, Susan ended up running second place on Britain's Got Talent, but that didn't stop her debut album from screaming up to the number one position on the charts.

Selling more than 8 million copies around the globe since its release in November of 2009, Susans first album, I Dreamed a Dream has become the biggest debut for a female artist of all time! Susan states "It's astounding. It's very humbling, as well."
