Different Styles Of Wearing Punjabi Turban

Wearing a Punjabi turban is an important part of the Sikh culture and religion. It is more like a compulsory headgear for Sikh men all around the world but some individuals prefer to wear it while others don't. Those who wear this headgear represent their faith and spirituality towards their religion.

According to Sikhs religious values, they have to wear a turban in order to cover their long uncut hair. It is considered as a compulsory thing for men to wear it but there are many females as well who sport this look with pride and commitment to their religion. The only difference between male and female turbans is nothing but the associated style of wearing them.

Double Patti is one of the most popular styles of wearing turbans. The most common style in rural areas of Punjab, India is this one and the fabric used for such purpose much be six meters long or even more. A long piece of cloth according to your desired length is cut into half and then it is sewed back together in order to create a pointed edge. As far as the number of layers is concerned, it totally depends on what your requirements are.

Apart from that, Patiala Shahi is another preferred style of wearing such headgear. Unlike other styles, this is considered as a bit more raw and artistic because the layers are not created to a specific order and instead of a neat sharp look it represents a bit of round look but in an attractive way. The cloth used can be as long as twelve meters depending on what your requirements are.

A style that is not quite common but worn by distinctive members of the community is the Chan Tora Dhamala. Its regarded as a headgear which was worn by soldiers in the army but nowadays it has become a part of military, air force and army uniforms. Just underneath the side of the forehead, a metallic sword and crescent are weaved into the cloth giving it a very unique look.

One of the most popular styles is the Amritsar Dhamal, as the name indicates it is a traditional style of Amritsar but worn by people all around the world. The distinctive feature of these turbans is that they are worn while using two pieces of cloth. One is 5 meters long and the other piece is 11 meters, the width of both pieces is same but the color may vary. Its regarded as a very basic style because traditionally it was worn by Sikh gurus and other reputable individuals.

Another technique that is usually for kids is known as Notai. Firstly, make a big bun of hair right on top of your head but not in too front of your forehead, and then use a piece of wide cloth to tie your hair. This is an easy style to handle therefore kids usually wear these type if turbans but many men also prefer such look.

There are plenty of other Punjabi turban styles that you can follow as a guideline but if you want to create your own distinctive style, it can be possible without any doubt.It isn't as difficult as you may think to learn such techniques and master them ultimately with a little help.
