A Great Plan For My Funny Irish Shirts

By Matthew Mills

Saint Patrick's Day is a party disguised as a holiday. Everyone who celebrates it has a few drinks and throws down with their friends all night long. In fact, it's right there with the 4th of July, New Year's Eve, and Halloween as the drunkest days of the year. That's why my Irish heritage is only part of the reason I enjoy the holiday so much. A few years ago, I started collecting funny Irish tee shirts to wear when we go out, and now I have a nice collection of them. So many, in fact, that I can wear a different one to each bar and pub we attend!

When the night starts, I am going to have to go somewhere to fill my belly. One of those family restaurants is probably the best place to go, since they have the prerequisite booze that I will need to drink to start my night off right. I will drink and socialize there for a while, letting people laugh at my funny Irish t shirt that says, "Irish, It's In My Blood (alcohol level.)" I figure that's a good enough warning for most folks.

I will then head to a bar to meet up with all of my drinking buddies. We'll be doing a proper pub crawl later, but we'll all meet at a neighborhood bar that's convenient for everyone. I can say right now that I won't be drinking any hard liquor this early in the evening, but we both know what a lie that is. This is probably the best time to wear my awesome "Fear The Irish" tee, since no one will be drunk enough to pick a fight with me because of it.

By the time we get to the first pub, I should already have a decent buzz on. I will be in an awesome mood and everyone will love me because, after all, I am the life of the Saint Patrick's Day parties especially with my funny Irish t-shirts on. The shirt I'll be wearing at the pub will be my "Patrick Was A Saint, I Aint" because that's exactly the kind of attitude I'll be exemplifying.

My last stop for the evening will be a home party, because being out in public at the level of drunkenness I plan on achieving will only get me arrested. I have a friend who is throwing a massive shin dig at his home, and I will be there sometime after midnight wearing my "Let's Get Ready To Stumble" funny Irish t-shirt. I hope to remember most of that celebration.

Having fun on Saint Patrick's Day is not about taking advantage of a holiday for the Irish. It's a time to celebrate your friends, your heritage, and your love of fun. It's one of those "party holidays" where it's okay to get drunk and make a fool of yourself while wearing ridiculous hats and funny Irish t-shirts. You can have fun and still remember your roots. In fact, having lots of fun sometime ARE your roots.
