The Importance Of Wearing A Black Turban In The Communities Of The World

By Annabelle Newton

Over the years religions as well as cultures have used specific dress codes in order to be identified. Besides being more easily identified, a certain dress code allows them to reveal different rank levels and positions in the culture and religion. In the case of the black turban, Muslim people use it to show they are descendants of Prophet Mohammad. It's a holy dress code for the majority of Muslim people.

As the majority of Islam uses white turbans compared to those that use the black turbans, they are still a sizeable number spread throughout the world. Although their numbers have dwindled in recent years, they still hold firmly to their belief as a matter of keeping it alive and following customary protocol. This is a custom that has been practiced for long and is inculcated into the people from an early age.

In Hindu communities of the world, Sikhs also make use of black turbans. In this case, they wear them to display a yielding of their egos. This means that the turban is mostly a symbol of humbleness and of the awareness of their rank. Another important reason why they wear turbans is their ancestors, as they need to show the pride they have for their origins. Sikhs who wear white turbans show that they are educated.

Away from any religion or culture, a huge number of people wear turbans basically for hygiene. For example, many women in Africa wear turbans to keep dust off their hair and maintain their hairstyle for a longer time than is expected. Color does not matter but a sense of style is quite important. This has resulted in different communities having different elegances and patterns of their turbans.

Sad to say, several people have related turbans with dangerous standard ideas that have given rise to the proliferation of intolerance and discrimination worldwide. Several religions who allow their professors to wear a turban claim that they only have the permission to wear a turban if their family circumstances are good. The use of turbans to discriminate or categorize people is prohibited.

Nevertheless, there are many who have experienced the suffering of being stereotyped. Several people who wear turbans are believed to be part of a terrorist organization. This has lead to an increase of fear because they don't feel safe to move in a world where they are judged in a negative way.

There are lots of communities that allow their men to wear turbans. Both Hindi and Islamic religions allow men to wear black turbans but only at a specific age. Women as well as children have to wear certain clothes to identify them. In certain African countries, women need to wear turbans not only to show their submission but also to protect their hairstyles.

A black turban has been associated and a distinction mark for religions and cultures. It also has meaning for many who use them for hygiene and neatness purposes. Whatever the case, we have understood that they are not to be used in a way that will bring about discrimination and stereotyping that causes divisions among people.
