It really doesn't matter what you call them, PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices), Life Vests or Life Jackets, these are important parts of any time spent on water. The term life jackets was applied to these devices because their intention is to save your life if you run into trouble while boating, skiing or any other time you are on the water. You never know when you might need one, so the best tactic is to always be wearing yours.

The important thing is not the size of the panel but instead whether the vest fits well. Most people wear inflatable lif jackets for extended periods of time, and that means you want only the ones that offer comfort. This can best be accomplished by trying them on before buying.

You will want to make sure you can adjust it to whatever you are going to be wearing regardless of your attire. You have to be sure that when you wear yours you will be able to float on your back with your lets extended. This is a crucial element to good floatation devices especially when there is a possibility that you may be in the water for lengthy periods.
