Fly tying feathers can be found all over the globe. Companies that offer the tying equipment and other supplies can be searched online. Skins, feathers and furs are the main raw materials used by fly tiers and salmon fishermen to come up with artificial insects. The tools and tying supplies include fishing rods, reels, threads, silk, hooks and books among other reading materials.

Organizations may opt to keep their own birds or acquire the unique species from international museums and zoos. The commonly used feathers are likely t be obtained from species such as kingfisher, jay, pheasant, Indian crow, Argus, Chatter, Bustard, peacock, swan jungle cock capes and rollers. The Marabou feather is made of different colors and is very distinctive in its looks. It has small classifications which categorize them into strung, grizzly and mini Marabou and even Marabou plumes. Its popular property is that it enables a beginner to swing and even make a replica in the water.

The color of a peacock fur is popular due to its stunning colors. It can be used to make different playful objects especially when it is plucked from near the eye. All bird species have the capacity of producing different fly structures under different conditions and situations. Each feather is therefore unique in its ability and functions. In most cases the name given to the species indicate its origin.

Each and every species will be able to perform their job efficiently under various situations and conditions with varying capacity of success. No single species can be said to be superior to another, all of the different species are made to serve various needs thus have unique features in their functions and ability. In most situations, the name of a species will indicate its place of origin such as the region, the animal, bird or poultry.

Fly fishing is a very exciting hobby. A beginner may start off by use of plastic flies but as time goes by he / she will feel the urge to tie the flies personally. The use of fur and feathers to tie the artificial insects appear very natural and beautiful. This activity is a hobby that saves a lot of money for the fisherman.

Fly tying feathers assist the fisherman or the tier to effectively design artificial flies that assume the resemblance of real insects. These insects are eaten by different types of fish. They appear alive so that they may attract the fish and get trapped. Feathers have natural qualities that help the structures assume living characteristics. They may appear round, big, small, firm, fluffy in order to provide the tier with a wide selection.
